Example:
Pancakes, eggs, and orange juice are included in your breakfast meal.
Comma to set off 2+ coordinating adjectives
Example:
We saw a
big
,
scary black
bear in the woods this weekend.
*Remember, no comma to separate:
color
number/amount

Comma to set off a sentence opener (transition, affirmation/denial)
Example:

However, I insist that I pick out your tie.
First, we need to go to the mall.
Comma to set off a direct address
Example:

What is the recipe we will be baking today, Suzanne?
Comma (and conjunction) or a semicolon to join 2 independent clauses
Example:

Remember, must be joining 2 complete sentences:
The Jazz lost their game on Friday but won on Sunday. (no comma needed because there is not a subject and verb on both sides of the conjunction)
Comma to set off a dependent clause opener
Example:
During 2nd period, we had a fire drill..
Walking in from lunch, Melanie saw that her friends had moved to a new table.
Commas to separate an interrupter (basket of fluff) from the rest of the sentence
Example:
The new teacher, Mrs. Buffet, teaches the remedial reading class.
Sunset Ridge students, known for their dedication and hard work, won the most awards in the math competition.
Comma to separate items in a date or address
Example:
Today's date is April 25, 2017.
